Here is The Step-By-Step Process
- You will need to take 2 forms of credit counseling & get a certificates - if your spouse is filing
bankruptcy, then you each need to take both courses & get certificates.
- Fill out a questionnaire
- Check your free credit report at www.annualcreditreport.com for any unknown creditors
- Make sure you have the last 2 years federal income taxes, to include with your questionnaire
- 2 Months wage stubs for you & your spouse
- 2 Months bank account statements for any bank accounts you or your spouse have.
Step No.1 Order our bankruptcy preparation service. When you order our services, you are immediately
assigned a specialist to open a case file, you will have a specialist's name who will be working with you, a phone
number & email address to make contact with your assigned specialist. That person will be with you the entire
bankruptcy process. You will never be left on your own. Any questions, concerns, all paperwork will be handled
by your assigned specialist from start to finish.
Step No.2 Log on to our secure site at the Contact Us page where you will enter your contact information.
All of your information is private, we never share with anyone ever!
Step No.3 Once we receive your contact information and any questions you might have, a specialist will
contact you. And the specialist will email you a list of bankruptcy requirements, including a questionnaire. Fill
out the questionnaire with as much information as you can provide. The mailing address of each creditor is
very important so that they can be notified that you are filing bankruptcy. This will stop them from contacting
you. Please note that a creditor is not the collection agency. An example of a creditor would be Sears Credit
Card, your mortgage company, an old cable company bill, the bank you owe for your car. For the creditors, we
will need account numbers, approximate amounts owed, their mailing address (this is very important, as they
can't be served notice if we don't have the proper mailing address), approximate date you owed this bill, and
what was the debt (you would put it was a credit card, or a utility bill, or a doctor bill, or mortgage bank)
Step No.4 We prepare all of your documents for you. While we are preparing your bankruptcy petition, you
will be taking the credit counseling course (mentioned in step no.3 as one of the bankruptcy requirements). The
usual process is to mail you your completed petition with sticky notes for you to 'sign here', the petition is then
ready for the bankruptcy court. An address ready envelope will be included. You then take to the post office
and mail. The envelope will be a Priority Flat Rate envelope with a 'delivery confirmation' attached. It will cost
you $5.65 to mail.
Step No.5 After filing the documents that we give you with the court, you will be given a date to attend the
bankruptcy hearing. On that day take your social security card & driver's license, go to the hearing, answer a
few questions. The process lasts only a couple of minutes and it is nothing to be afraid of.
Step No.6 Now, you will need to take your second course from your list. It is a Debt Management course &
get certificates showing you completed the course. These need to be mailed into the court. The bankruptcy
court will send you a notice in the mail later telling you that your debts have been discharged. That is all there
is to forever getting rid of your debts. You never have to repay them again.
Again, we hold your hands through out the process so that you are never alone. We will answer all of
your questions, no matter how many they are. Contact as often as you like, before, during and after
filing and we will answer your questions.
